I am replacing the clutch and found a gray lube type substance like liquid graphite on the ball inside the lifter and on the rod. No mention of this in the manual. If some kind of lube besides 10W40 in the transmission is required what is it called? I am rebuilding the bike, which I bought as a basket case for my grandson.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Probably just residue that's gotten in and doesn't get cleared when you change the oil..

Aluminum dust from the clutch plates & Oil tend to turn gray.

Thanks for the quick replies. That possibility never occurred to me. I assumed since there was none of this gray stuff anywhere else inside the clutch area it must have been put there for a purpose.
