Just bought an 84 ktm 250. Does anyone have recomendations on 40mm Zokes setup, parts suppliers, do you use ATF fluid in the tranny like the 1984 Tech. bulletin sais etc...Any info and recomendations would be appreciated!
Hey wow! I bought one of those back in 1984. It was one of my favorite bikes. As far as the forks go, I had a Simons fork kit and stiffer springs. I doubt you can still get a Simons kit. If you can keep those double leading shoe brakes adjusted, they work great.
I rode that bike for about a year. The end of the crankshaft that holds the flywheel twisted off. The bike was over a year old. KTM supplied free replacement parts, and my dealer fixed it for free. Problem was, while I was waiting for parts I bought a 1985 MStar GM 500. Couldn't be without a ride, don'tcha know.

I've got an 85 KTM 250 and i like it alot but i'm having a bit@h of a time getting it to start, i think it's the carb and probably a weak spark, but it does put out a spark, any ideas
you have good compression? (tested ring end gap in the cylinder? in spec?)
you've adjusted the idle air screw slightly rich when it's hot?
tryed replacing the plug? gapped correctly?
air filter clean?
reed valves in good shape?
