86-88 cr parts swap & info

whats up kids..Im one of the new guys . I have an oppertunity to have ( another ) 86 cr 125 .. I like these for the beating they can take !
BUT..my questions are this ..what parts & years can I interchange without major customizing ???
I am looking for 250 motor & tranny,forks & swingarms, can I use anything later than 89 on it ?
I also thought about putting all new plastics in it, wondered how hard it would be to re-mount..say...99-01 plastics on a 86?
I think Im re-doing the frame black, plastics black with bars, swingarm, rims & sprocket crome/ aluminum. what do you think ? lol

while im sure it can be done if one is determined but how feasible would it be to put newer plastics on your 86 scoot?I think it would be more beneficial to upgrade suspension if you want to do something.
