Here's the background.

Josh was riding his '87 YZ80. Didn't notice the bottom rad hose come off, and lost all coolant. The top end melted, and came to a stop. Once it cooled off, the piston came free, without needing any "assistance".

I just pulled the YZ80s apart for a new top end.

While inspecting the bottom end, I can feel some play in the bottom rod bearing. I can't really feel it vertically, but I can feel it when I twist the rod. From the condition of the rest of the motor, I suspect the bottom end hasn't been done.

How much clearance can the bottom rod bearing have before the dependability drops off? I've already warned Josh not to wring it out, but you know kids.....in one ear, out the other. :p

When the top end melted, it took some of the plating off the cylinder near the exhaust port. There is some scoring, but not real bad. I expect it will drop the performance a bit, but being an old bike, Troy doesn't want to spend a whole lot on it. Does anyone have a good used cylinder that would fit a '87 YZ80?

Thanks for the help.
