88 kdx200 whats the problem

My 88 just started idleing very weird form a low idle to high idle about every 45seconds it starts doing this after it warms up. I know I need a new top end but will a new top end help this problem? The carb is clean I overhauled the carb about two weeks ago and the problem still exist.

Check for air leaks between the carb and cylinder.Try carefully spraying small amounts of starting fluid at mating surfaces of the intake boot and reed block and note any rpm changes. Also do the same to the cylinder base gasket and any other possible sources of air leaks. Good luck. :cool:
