I noticed in the Kawasaki factory manual that the timing is set
@ 21 degrees for the 1989 vs 19 degrees for the 1990-1994 KDX's.
The 1990 on KDX's rev to 8000 RPM and produce one more
HP than the 1989. Is it as simple as changing the stator position
to get similar results.

No I don't know anybody thats tried it. I would suspect you
are right about the power increase at the top end. The manual
says it gains one HP at 500 RPM higher.

I change mine on a regular basis...depending on how I want my bike to run and where I'm running it.
