I'm new to dirt bikes, and have been looking at a few that are for sale.
Here is my criteria:

~Love power
~17 years old
~No dirt bike experience
~Mechanically inclined
~190 lbs.
~6'5" tall
~Have $400 to spend on a bike

The Husky I looked at supposedly just needs a stator. It's a '94 610 (TE?) 4 stroke with a carb jet kit, performance exhaust, and a Ducati light weight flywheel kit with a high output stator (not working).

The seller had it inspected by a service shop, and has documentation stating it is in mint condition. He is willing to let me have the Ducati stator re-wound, and installed BEFORE I buy the bike (so I can see it run/ride it).

He is asking $800, but will take $400 and a boat I have-worth $300. Does this sound like a good deal? I certainly think so!

My only suspicion, is: What if the model is a lemon, or has other problems???

Does anyone know of problems with this brand/model/year??

Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.

(sorry if I wrote a book :ahhh: )

I decided to buy it...

Now I just need to get the Ducati stator re-wired, and find the cause of the problem... lots of fun ahead.
If anyone else has had this stator problem, please let me know..

Thank's in advance~

I had one of those.
I put a plate on it and drove it for a year around sf on the street.
It is not what I would call a woods bike.
Thing always sounded like a coffee can full of marbles too, albiet it never blew up.
New oil vevery other tank of gas, like to eat sprocket side rear hub brgs, would back fire off of idle and blow the carb off.
I sold it when husky parts got scarce in the mid 90's and people couldn't get basic hard parts like rod kits.
Swingarm pivot bolt is kinda cheesy too, I made a new one for it from ti.

You didn't have any ignition trouble though, eh?? Dang.

When I looked at the bike, I figured I'd spend most of my time on it on the road (like 65%road, 35% dirt).
Did you have the exact same model?

Thank's~
