97 KDX 220 brake pads replacement

I just replaced the front and back brake pads on my bike. I noticed that the old rear pads had a couple brackets on the pads. Not sure what they are but I put them on the new ones and the assembly fit but didn't have much extra room. Was I supposed to do this? Any ideas or suggestions?

Yes, those silver brackets are anti-chatter shields... Good thing you put them back on. Nearly all Disc brakes have em.

The front pads didn't have them. Do I need them for the front?

I don't know. I know my back has them, because I jsut replaced those myslef. My RM has them on both front and back so I assumed that the front would. The KDX parts break out doesn't show em on either.

Go figure.

Thanks for your reply. I just got this bike so I'm trying to go through it and clean it up. I also just ordered a shop manual cause I'm sure I'll be needing it.
