'98 Gasser 250-any good?

A friend of mine has been offered a Gasser 250 1998 - I've owned a 2000 model but couldn't tell him if there were any major differences or if they were reliable etc.
Can anyone give me any general advice about '98 models or known problems or things to be wary of when buying etc?

An amazing bike...we own the 1998 and its called the sizdays bike. Ours is supersmooth, greatly suspended and so reliable. Then the top Irish rider did own it before us but wow...if i could get another id jump at it!!
