Thinking of selling the 99 for a newer model and am wondering what it would be worth. It's in good condition and has the typical mods like acerbis handguards, fmf pipe and silencer, revalved suspension. It has the scotts steering dampner but if the design of them hasn't changed in the last few years I'll be taking it off. I'm in Colorado. Anybody have any thoughts on what this might be worth? I know you can't see it but whats the average price?

Now if I do sell it, how are the 02 and 03 models? I'll be buying another 300 EXC for sure, Are there major differences in these two years? What are the pluses and negatives of them?

I bought an absolutely cherry 2001 300 EXC yesterday for $3700. Yours will probably bring $2900 or so without the Scotts. I'd keep that and put it on the new one for sure. The damper will easily swap over with a new mount kit though, which is fairly cheap. As far as differences, I think 2000-2002 are pretty much the same, and the 2003 has numerous improvements. I love my 2001, even with the very limited seat time I have on it.

Hey CMcCarthy,

What was your previous ride? Just curious. Sounds like you got a great deal on your new ride, I was hoping mine would be worth a little more than what you guesstimated.

2001 KDX, and a 1994 KDX before that. They were great bikes, but I think the KTM is on a whole different level. Sorry about having to break the bad news on the price estimate, but for whatever reason the 300s never seem to bring the kind of money the 250s do. Looking in the current cycle trader, I see:

99 380MXC $3000
99 300MXC AND 99 50SX pro jr $4750obo
99 300EXC $3250 (Dealer)
99 300EXC $2995
99 250MXC $3200obo
99 200EXC $2975

Good luck selling it though. I'm sure it will move quick.

A buddy of mine sold a '99 300mxc, with all the extras minus the Scotts - he kept that. He got $3000 back in August.

W.P.,
There were some suspension changes (revalving) done on the forks and the shocks. The head, I think was also slightly different to boost midrange

I know they were "blowing out" 02 EXC's for great prices so there may be some more still unsold. The '03's are much nicer in the suspension department, ODO, handlebars, clutch line, hubs and seat-tank junction is narrower. Probably can get one OTD for just a little over $6K NEW.
