Anyone out there have any recommendations for improving low and midrange torque from my bone-stock 99 RM125? I use mostly for trail riding and hill climbing.

My son had a 99 RM125. Nice bike, btw, and a pretty friendly 125 in the woods.

Two things will help a lot- 1) get the jetting right. Stock is horribly rich at 55P/178M. We ended up using something like 45/48P and 168/170M, depending on weather.
2) Boyesen Pro reeds. NICE improvement and well worth the $35-40.

BTW, would you be interested in a used FMF TCII silencer?

Thanks for the input. I had also noticed that the bike runs way to rich. I wish I had known about the silencer you have. I just shelled out over $100 for a new one. Thanks anyway!

KawiRider,
Usually, the bike will run a bit richer with the B reeds. On the applications I've had, the reeds will make the bike about a half or whole jet size rich, most particularly on the pilot.

Darringer,
You are welcome! Bummer on the TCII. I've been sitting on the thing for almost a year, expecting one of the two local buds with 99 RM's to pony up. I've given upon both of them; the one guy doesn't ride much and the other is still trying to find $10 to buy a couple of used tires from me.:ugg:

BTW, good advice from Simon. Try running a 51T rear, but note that you will need a longer chain. (might be a good time to toss on an O-ringer, which the 125 will pull just fine.)

Good luck!

I put on a 52 tooth sprocket and it helped out the powerband. I liked the way it tightened up the gear ratios. Really makes a BIG difference when pulling long hills. Still wish I knew about that silencer earlier! I'm sure I could have figured out where to spend that extra scratch! I will be playing with the jetting after the Christmas rush is over. Thanks for all of your help!
