What will improve this bike's suspension?

I'm on a budget and figure suspension upgrades would be a better investment for me than engine upgrades since I ride mostly tight SX style motocross tracks. Not that I think the stock suspension is bad ..... but I didn't realize stock suspension of my previous bike was bad until I obtained a newer ride either.

I'm a semi-aggressive 170lbs (without gear) rider.

In stock form the bike has .40 fork springs and a 4.7/5.3/6.1 progressive rear spring.
I'm thinking of going to a 4.8 straight rate rear spring and .42 front.

So far I have only raised the fork oil level to 170mm which did help bottoming but I still bottom it occasionally on flat landings. Other than that all settings are stock.

You are correct in going for suspension work over engine, i dont know the 99 RM at all but www.mx-tech.com has a spring rate generator to check the springs for your weight and it has a tuning guide to help set the clickers-make sure you have your rear sag set correctly as this is the no1 cause of suspension problems.

Good idea to get rid of that progressive spring-i hate them.
