I had a kdx for a while (2000 220) with all the mods, RB carb. I
wanted more snap but was afraid that a motocross bike was
wrong for me because I don't race and I am no factory rider.
This is a phenomenal machine and not to talk smack about the
kdx, it is also a great bike. But there is something special about
the revs and snap of the CR250. I encourage anyone who has
been thinking about this to go full bore.

you're trying to compare two machines that were designed for two different purposes. The CR is a moto-x bike plain and simple, it takes a heap of mods to get them into a trail bike that I would swing a leg over. The KDX was designed for trail/enduro riding. It has a flywheel weight to smooth out the power hit and produces the majority of its power low for tough terrain. If you want an MX bike then buy an MX bike, a KX, CR, YZ, etc. :)
