I had a question about the actual weight of the current KDX 200 (1995-2003). Kawasaki's website lists the weight at 222.6 lbs, however, I realize that these figures are often greatly exaggerated. Has anyone out there actually weighed theirs? I know that when one of the mags tests a bike they usually list the actual weight, but since the KDX hasn't been tested in a zillion years (except for the recent Dirt Rider that didn't list a weight) I don't know where else to look.
Anyway, the question was, does anyone out there
know what the actual weight of a current ('95-'03)
KDX 200 is? Kawasaki's website lists the weight at
222.6 lbs, but I realize that this number is often
exaggerated greatly. Has anyone actually weighed
theirs? I know that when one of the mags tests a
bike, they usually list the actual weight, but since
the KDX hasn't been tested in a zillion years (except
for the sweet article in the recent Dirt Rider that
didn't list a weight), I don't know where else to look.
this is from my 89 service manual
dry weight (no fluids i guess) = 102kg = 224.4 lbs
the tank holds 12.0 l =3.2 gal
3.2 gal gas only (didnt figure in the 9 oz oil) = about 20lbs (1 gal = 5.8 to 6.5lbs)
the quart of oil in the case weighs about a pound
the water in the radiator (1/2 gal) weighs about 4.5 lbs(didnt account for the antifreeze). i'd say about 250lbs all filled up and ready to ride. weigh your bike and tell me if im close. get two bathroom scales (one for each tire) and try it. let me know.
