Adding a Brake Light

I would like to add a brake light to my 03 KDX 200. I have already put the switch on the foot brake and it works fine. I would like to know if the standard lighting coil will handle the brake light. I would like to tie into the light switch on the hot wire and run the brake light from the standard lighting coil. Will this work??
