Hi everyone!

I’m looking for advice on dirt bike armor for kids. My child is just getting into riding, and I want to ensure they’re as safe as possible. What do you recommend for chest protectors, knee/elbow guards, and helmets?

Are there any specific brands or features I should prioritize, like adjustability or ventilation?

I’m especially curious about how to strike the right balance between comfort and safety—don’t want them to feel restricted but still protected.

Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

The important thing is to start him off in all the gear they YOU want him to have. If he starts out wearing it, it will be come second nature. Insist he gears up even for a quick ride around the yard. When he does fall, and he will!!, the gear will protect him so he can get up and continue to ride. Remind him how well the gear saved him.

You can add boots, goggles and gloves to your list too. The best thing to do is go to a local shop and have him try things on. Not everything will be comfortable but like I said, if he starts out with it, he'll get used to it. Be prepared to buy new gear as he grows and try not to have a mindset to buy it a bit bigger with the expectation he will grow into it. This is especially important with boots and helmets. Just use common sense. The fact you are asking is a very good sign!

Good luck and enjoy your son's journey into a lifetime of dirt bikes!!
