I was just wondering what everyone uses to clean there air filter. I tried to use dish soap but that didn't take the oil off it and was wondering if WD-40 woulkd work and if anyone who has ever use it could say how it worked for them. I would buy air filter cleaner but I would have to order it and it would be a 30-45 minute drive there and back.:)

I use either Mineral Spirits or Diesel.

These work well since they are not very volatile.
I empty 1 gallon of mineral spirits in a re-sealable bucket. Dunk the filter and squeeze a few time. This is just to cut the oil. Then clean the filter in dish soap and warm water.

I then re-seal the bucket and use the mineral spirits many times (almost a year on the current gallon).

No Toil! hands down, the best filter maintanence system in the world. just order a kit, from Chaperral, or White Bros. that way, it will be shipped directly to your house.
