When you adjust the airscrew, does it matter whether you adjust the idle screw to make the rpms higher or hold the throttle open 1/8 to get the same rpm?

Nope. The idle screw physically raises the slide just as if you were twisting the throttle.

Yep - Big Lou explained it well

I know I have done both and it's appears to have the same effect. If the bike idles on it's own - turn it and listen for the peak RPMs while the bike is at an idle. If the bike doesn't idle on it's own, hold the throttle open a hair and do the same. Same difference to me.
