Has anyone heard any new developments about the KTM 250 RFS? I thought there was one being ridden in Europe, but I havent heard anything about it in a while.

Servus MXKid,

They are out here in Europe and it looks like they'll be sold with the black, small MX-Tank and a black seat over here. Weight is 120kg (265lb) ready to go and power is down compared to a WR250F. First tests say that while the bike feels noticeably weaker than a Yamaha, it is not that much slower in reality. You have to keep the revs up though, because low to mid is very weak! I have no first hand experience and have yet to see one myself.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE OLD 250 WHICH IS BASED ON THE CURRENT RFS AND HAS BEEN AROUD A WHILE, NOT THE NEW ONE WHICH IS IN DEVELOPMENT.:scream:

If true might as well stick with a 400/520. A 265lb bike with less power is no improvment.

I think MCNut is correct and this is still the 250 based on the 520/400 and in the same frame.

Yes. There is no sign of a 'new' 250F yet. Usually KTM has prototypes in the enduro/MX world championship - nothing about a new 250 4-stoke so far.

at www.ktm.at they state a 109 kgs dry weight and a 6 speed engine with Bohrung x Hub 75/56,5mm (bore/stroke). As usual no performance indication from KTM. Don't know if this the new or old one. Dutch importer has it on their site. I never was there to check if it is actually available.

I would be very surprized if KTM had the new 250 in it's 2003 lineup. Meanwhile check out the new TM, Gas Gas, and Husky 250's! It's still a very good year for small bore 4stroke's IMO.
