oh yeah, i'm the guy that wears shorts, tee shirt, and full-faced helmet.

I just hope you never fall off dressed like that.

I know what my leathers look like after a few trips across the asphalt. I'm glad all that damage is on cow hide and not MY hide.

Yes in some places, but other areas of the bone don't look so good.

If it doesn't improve soon, I'll be getting cut open again for another titanium rod in it. Joy!

LOL! The reason my shirt is all sweaty is *because* I was wearing my jacket. I don't think they'll let you drag race there without one.

Though, when it is 90-100 or more I also wear just helmet, gloves, and jeans. I know many people say if it is too hot for the gear, it's too hot to ride, but I REALLY like to ride!

It's really crazy just how great of a bike these FZ1s are. A great all around bike, although I wouldn't recommend for a beginner.
Is *that* why you told me not to get it? :whoa:

i haven't actually drag raced yet but i checked into it awhile back. here, you have to have helmet, jacket, gloves, long pants, and boots over the ankles. you also have to remove your mirrors.

I ride a 1981 Yamaha XJ750 Seca that I ride rain or shine. I have cut back my sloppy weather riding a little, but I still do on occasion. She's getting harder to keep well tuned as the KM's creep up on her (62 000kms). I am thinking the spring or summer of '07 would be a good time to get a new ride.

I grew up in the dirt and have managed to stay off street bikes (other than short jaunts on borrowed bikes) up until last year because family/work/life has just been too busy to load up the bike, gear, drive to the riding area, unload, gear up, ride, rest, ride some more, tear down, load up, drive home, unload again, and clean up as often as a person with a two wheeled addiction can handle, so I started taking baby steps onto the pavement and bought a KLR 650. I commute almost every day on it and I can load this sucker up with camping gear and take off for overnight trail rides when I get the chance. It's the best of both worlds . . . I get to ride on two wheels pretty much daily, and I can still quench my dirt thirst when the oportunity pops up.

Yea i ride all most every day now since these lovely gas prices are taking all my hard earned cash.. I have 2 CBR600's one is 30 over and jetted/piped. I'm about to take that motor off and build a shifter cart.. I'm also building a sportster right now. 40 over S&S heads, carb. Some other trick things too. Got to ride, either on the the street or dirt everyday, helps keep me sane.. Well kinda.

I saw someone run a stop sign the other day, it wasn't one of those "slow down and make sure no ones coming, then run it" deals, they didn't even acknowledge the sign was there and were going quite fast. It wasn't a close call for hitting me, but five seconds later would have been. These things make you think...if I were in my truck, at least i'd have a decent chance of survival. ON the bike, not so sure.

I'm not anti street riding, currently have three licenced for the street, but it is a scary thing riding on the same "track" mostly with much larger, heavier vehicles.

Kav, that's the first front mounted saddlebag i've seen...doesn't it interfere with your knee? (sorry, couldn't resist, looks like a fun bike, congrats)

Here's my current street bike - best street bike I've ever owned. I put about 9,000 miles on it a year (in our 7 month riding season). I've been riding street bikes since I was 16 (37 now), roadraced back in the late 80's. I have ~250,000 miles ridden on the street and I've yet to wreck a bike on the street (knock on wood). 90,000 of those miles was in San Francisco bay area traffic. I rode dirt bikes a little for training back in my road racing days and just again started riding them this year in March. Enjoy them both.

I'm confused...I didn't see the real man or the real bike. :whoa:

Couldn't resist! How far can you ride that thing before it gets uncomfortable? I've never ridden anything like that.

bought this in March and have been riding the tires off it ever since.
as folks from the northeast will tell ya.... if you can ride in the New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia area, you can ride anywhere!

the Harley also prompted me to put my YZ back together after sitting on a work bench in hundreds of pieces for 2 years......

Just wondering, are Harley Davidson motorcycles good quality bikes? I keep hearing bad things about them like recalls and people bringing it to their Harley specialists a lot. I haven't really heard anything good about them.
