I polished a scratch out of my stock Excel rim and now I have this shiney spot. Are Yamaha rims anodized or something?

I could be wrong.....just looks like some clear coat to me, and comes off much easier than the other colors...why is that?

You'll just have to polish the whole rim, now. You'll lose some of the corrosion resistance, so you'll probably have to keep polishing them every few rides or they will get water spots.

I wonder if there is a clearcoat or paint that would stick. I dont think I want to get into polishing.

The shiny spot will eventually lose its shine and look more like the rest of the rim, you could just wait it out.

Yep, I bet it will. I'll just let it be.

I think a lot of the newer aluminum rims are clear coated.

Don't know what would be best to fix it. An auto paint supply store might could fix you up though.

I have never seen a clear coated motorcycle rim. They've all been anodized. Trust me, I know, I've welded a few of them up.
