Do you guys use any kind of assembly lube on your top end replacements? Specifically when installing the wrist pin into the new piston.

This is on a two stroke.

I normally use some unmixed premix oil as assembly lube for the pistons, rings, wristpin and main bearings on a 2 stroke. No problems so far...

Total Seal AL4 Piston Ring Assembly Lube. You can get it at any automotive speed shop or through the mail order speed shops like Summit Racing ( www.summitracing.com ) or Jeg's ( www.jegs.com )

The advantage of these types of lubes is the degree of tackiness. They tend not to run off immediately, so the chance of a dry bearing (or ring face) sliding against a metal surface is pretty minimal.

Lots of great engines have been assembled with nothing more than a good coating of pre-mix oil as well, so it's far from a hard and fast rule, more of a preference. ;)
