Chad got the holeshot, RC was mired mid-pack and Bubba went down in the first turn.

The webcasters said RC was down 9+ seconds to CR after two or three laps, but I think the largest gap according to the live-at-the-wire scoring was more like 5 or 6 seconds. Chad and RC lapped pretty close to one another all night. Bubba blazed through to 3rd but never gained any time on the leaders after his first turn mishap.

In the post race press conference, RC was BUMMED about the fuel thing. He semi-threatened to just skip the rest of the SX season "See you in Sacramento" (Round1 of the Outdoors). Maybe he will once he is 100% sure they AMA will not give him his points back.

He and his team have invested thousands of hours of hard work in this season and he really wants to go out on top. The sponsors have put in $$$$, basically everyone involved with SX has busted their humps to improve the sport and we finally have a good season. A perfect storm of RC, JBS and Chad. And the AMA dumps it down the toilet. Just great.

I wouldn't blame him a bit for doing just that, but I was disappointed to hear him talk that way. I believe he still has a good chance of winning the rest of the SX races. He also said something about maybe testing some cars next weekend :yikes: The way he was talking, I definately believe this is his last year racing SX/MX. I hope he continues to finish out the season as the champion he is, and show the world that he's still the SX champ by, if he loses it, it was by less than the BS 25 points taken away by the AMA.
I believe this sport is really going to suffer because of this. :|

RC putting down the fastest lap times again...

It was an AWESOME race! I counted 8 seconds sometime around the end of the first or maybe the beginning of the 2nd lap. Ricky gained about a 1/2 sec. a lap, pretty consistently. He made a clean pass but Chad definitely stepped it up to stay with him and fought to get within a bike-length or so with about 2 laps to go. On of my friends (A CPA, at his first pro race of any kind) focused on following Bubba the whole race and came away impressed, although I didn't see him making up too much time on the leaders myself. Ricky was charging the while race; very impressive to watch!
As to his attitude, I did NOT get an impression of him being overly frustrated. Instead, I think he is actually EXTREMELY motivated! I've got to go now but I'll share more of my observations later this evening. My daughter and I were close enough to get soaked with champaign! (She doesn't want to shower because it was Chad that soaked her!) :cool:

Wow CR rode a good race, but RC is definitely motivated. It's unfortunate that JS got tangled in the start. I would have liked to have seen CR take third or worse just to close the points gap again. I was shocked to hear JS sound like CR with "I just want to battle with those guys."

I was impressed with CR's pace and ability to match RC after the pass, but I still think he is a chump. There is still a lot of racing left and many things can go right or wrong for anybody.

Reed seemed to be catching back up to RC with three laps to go, then he had a bit of a bobble and blew his chance.

Good racin'. Too bad the fuel penalty actually hurts someone this time (unlike Reed in 04, when he had such a commanding lead at the time the penalty was handed down).
