I have agreed to help a neighbor kid fix 2001 RM125. He got a repair quote from the local dealer that was way way above his budget. The bike misses gears a lot, and doesn't stay in gear always either, especially if he fans the clutch. I suspect that it is a bent shifting fork and/or possibly a stuck detent. Can these be repaired by pulling the clutch, or does the case need to be split? Any other ideas or advice?
Thanks

Sometimes its just worn shift pawls, they sit inside the shifter drum behind the clutch, you have to remove the clutch cover to see it, any wear on these will make it miss shifts.
