The bike is a 2001 GasGas EC200. It's actually not too bad of a ride, nothing super technical or anything. Logging and mining were two major industries (logging still is, but all the mines are shut down) so we have a huge network of old and new dirt roads running around the hills. This ride involves mostly riding on logging roads, then a short section of narrow (quad width) two track before hopping on the powerline road, which is rough two track. This picture is taken at the top of an extremely steep, narrow valley. The ride down (or up, depending on direction of travel) is quite entertaining. It's not a big deal anymore but back when I was learning to ride on my XR100R, this hill was a major challenge. I still like doing the ride a couple times a year with my dad as it's fun just to bomb around the old roads and practice my flat tracking abilities.
If I ever get the time I want to build some singletrack connecting a few valleys around home, but right now I'm in Edmonton for my last semester of school (1 month left!) then when I'm home I'll be busy riding, racing, and helping out with the motocross track and trail system at the Kootenay Motocross Track (
www.kootenaymx.com). Plus I'm trying to qualify for the ISDE, so I gotta spend more time riding, less time on the end of a chainsaw or pulaski. Maybe in a few years I'll get a trail made...
Thanks for the comments guys.
