Most of us do our best to keep our race bikes looking good, but the reality is they usually look, well ... RACED :)

But there are some race bikes that have just a certain something that transcends the mechanical side of things and approach art. Over the 45+ years I've been paying attention to motorcycles a few have stood out to me as truly beautiful. I'm sure I'm not alone. Here's are a just few of my favorites :

Alex Jorgensen's Norton built by Ron Wood. Ron has built a ton of truly stunning race bikes in his day.

Those are excellent examples of two top flat track bikes Rich. Ron Wood builds some fantastic stuff. Here is my favorite flat tracker from the 70's. It's my own 750 Triumph in a Trackmaster frame. Still have it today.

Terry - That's a fantastic looking bike. It's a shame to think you dragged something that pretty out to Ascot and got it all dirty.

Another classic design. I took these pics at a local vintage show. The same guy owns both of these old Pentons, and he and his wife still ride them.

89R.....who painted that?
I did Mike. The orange is a Murana (SP?) pearl orange that was left over from painting one of Peggys Corvettes and the gold is gold leaf. My good friend and traveling buddy Ike Mizen did the striping and lettering.

This is a typical flat tracker from the era. Simplicity at it's finest.

Here is another very special flat tracker. It's Kenny Roberts TZ750 based four cylinder two stroke. Kenny won the Indy mile on this bike and after the race he said, "They don't pay me enough money to ride that bike."

Another very unique flat tracker from the days of flower children and bell bottom pants. My friend Donny Castro's Triumph. Has a special fiberglass tank and seat assembly made by Tracy from The Fiberglass Works in Santa Clara Ca.

Plan for Ascot :
1) Change out of bell bottoms into leathers
2) Drop acid
3) Go Fast & Turn left
4) KIss trophy girl before she turns into a giant lizard

I thought you were just good at melting stuff. You can paint, too? Dayam!

Always loved those 70s Yamahas. Kenny Roberts' tracker just kicks butt.

Also, Hannah's factory OW from back in the day:
