I'm in the market for a bike for my Daughter to learn on. She's 25 and is currently riding a Honda 440 EX ATV. She has shown interest in learning the bike thing. She's a very good rider on the Honda, but she want to ride with my son and I when we hit the single tracks. In the past I've heard a lot of good things about the KDX 200-220's and the XR200-250's. I know that both bikes are very capable and also reliable, but in the end, what is the better choice???????? I'm hoping not to spend to much, just in case this doesn't work out, but can I get something decent for about $1000? Thanks for any advice.

How tall is she?

If she is shorter, a TTR125L, TTR230, CRF150F, XR200, or CRF230 are all excellent choices. If she is tall and comfortable with a taller bike, an XR250 or even a KDX200 is a good choice for a new rider.

Well, she about 5'10". She fits pretty well on my KTM. Thanks. I guess I'll start shopping around.

 She does not need to buy one since she has a cool dad who wants to buy her a bike to ride.

It's obvious that you are not a dad.........you would not understand.

I know where there is an 89 KDX200 For sale in GR if interested. Its about in the range your looking for. Yes its older but its in super shape still. used to be mine (wifes bike) and I sold it to my brother in law and he never rode it.

Otherwise any of the bikes listed above would be a great choise. Have her sit on a few at the dealer and see what will fit her then go shopping in the classifieds.

Yep, I guess its a Dad thing. If it turns out she likes it, then I'm sure she would buy her own bike. Besides, Id like to have an extra bike around just in case.
