If you can't get a faster bike, you might as well start learning some technique. Try to get that underpowered juggernaut to wheelie or do some figure eights and stoppies and other kinds of drills. This will benefit you way more than trying to get a TTR to go faster and you will be readier when you get a faster bike.

Well, I have the opposite problem being 6'4", but even at 5'2" you can at least ride an 80 and those are plenty fast, especially if your weight is in line with your height.

Get an 80 2 smoke. They are much faster than the TTR125, and arent big either. I started riding a YZ125 when I was 5'1", although if you got a 125 you might want one with a lower seat hieght, because mine was a little tall, but if you are trail riding get a CR, YZ, or KX 80, or even a KX 100, because the KX 100 has a bigger motor, but isn't much bigger.

I've got a cr 80. It revvs so high, and the powerband goes into the rev limiter, its not so good for trails, but it will do roll on power wheelies (no bumps or clutching) in third gear. You will have no problem keeping up with ur dad

The key word is "little". You won't get any significant power increase out of a TTR (compared to a 2-stroke MX bike) without a huge investment. I would get what money I can out of the TTR and get an 80 or the KX100.

You don't want to waste you time trying to make your TTR faster. It would be a waste of money. There is no way to make it even close to a 80 or KX100 mx bike. They are a lot faster. The 100 would probably be better for trails. Not only is the TTR not fast enough you have outgrown it if you are 5'2". It is time to move up. You will be able to keep up with your dad with an 80 or 100. You are big enough for a bigger bike too if your 5'2". You won't be disapointed with an 80 or 100. They are faster than a TTR hands down. I know someone who had a CR 80 and it was faster then his dads piped out XR 250.
