there is a small hole underneath the waterpump on the outer side cover. It looks like a breather hole but there is oil coming out, and i think it might be a bad seal but i'm not sure. Is one quart of oil too much? 2000 yz250. Thanks.

errrr.. a hole that liquid weeps from.

It's supposed to be there... I believe its there to indicate when the seals are going bad.

when i replace them is there a specific way for them to go in? When i switched side cases i might have even put them in backwards but i doubt it, if that would even have an effect. errrr.... thanks again

Yes, the seals have to be installed in the proper direction.

The purpose of that hole is to show you that your seals are bad by allowing the fluid to leak out where you can see it. The hole worked as designed. ;)
