[QUOTE="peanuts, post: 1222848, member: 78253"] THE STORY :ahhh: : So I just replaced the rear brake pads on my bike (never done it myself before). The workshop manual tells me to tighten the the pad pin to 10Nm. That's a hell of a lot of Nm when you've only got an allen key with 3 inch handle (I unscrewed it by levering a ring spanner on the end of the allen key). Is that much torque really necessary? The pin has a locking screw behind it and there are no forces that are going to try and unscrew it. THE QUESTION  : Has anyone ever had a failure caused by insufficient torque on the pad pin?
