broken arm

think wife just broke arm. 7pm here. what do ya'll suggest to do until dr. office opens in morning. does not appear to be terrible break so we do not want to waste time in er for no real help. ice, splint, etc? she is a tough coonass and can make the nite. we just want to minimize pain and damage. thanks.

If it just appears to be a simple break it can wait till morning. The healing process wont start for 3 days. A trip to the ER will only cause a long evening where they will confirm your fears but then refer her to a orhtopedic surgon. If you can call your general practice doctor to get in first thing in the AM Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't look like its bleeding internally. ICE and elevation. I broke my leg last August and waited till the morning to get it looked at with no problems. Also take some tylenol for pain and swelling. Good luck!
