Could anyone tell me whether there is any parts compatibility or lineage between the 82/83 WMX125 and the Cagiva Mito engine...

I'd like to get a WMX, WRX or RX (81-83) to restore (and use) but it would be good to know if there are crossover engine parts into other, later models - in particular piston, conrod, clutch, crank and gearbox internals.

Doesn't seem any point restoring a bike like that unless you can keep it running.

Thanks for any help.

I would doubt it - Cagiva(typical Italian company) runs to it's own drum without looking around! Only later on would the Husky parts cross over, and VERY few parts at that!

The threads of hope are based on
1) Both are Cagiva-only motors
2) Both bottom ends look very similar - almost identical centre cases
3) The bore and stroke is the same
But 10 years difference is a long time in Italian compatibility time. Check out the reference shots

I'm seeing a lot of differences between those engines....
OK, look past the radically different outer cases (and cylinder). The inner cases look the same. The layout of the output shaft, gearshift, kickstart shaft and bolt pattern is the same. There is even a blanked off hole in the case near the base of the cylinder on the left side of the WMX that gets used on the Mito. Can you see it or am I just suffering from sleep deprivation...
