hey guys just picked up an incredible 2001 520sx. i am back on the ole pumpkin. how good are the 43 mm forks? just read the 2002 520 write up in transworld and they said the old forks were terrible. fuuny i should read this 1 hour after i buy it. please tuck my little heart in to bed. i can remember reading in mxa that the 2000 520 forks were better than what came on the majority of all other bikes. what makes the 2001 forks so bad? thanks

The '00 and '01 were the same forks. It's not that they are terrible, the '02's are just incredible!

I can not comment on the 43 mm's. My 380 (1999) had the 50 mm's. My 48 mm's do not deflect at all...They track better, feel precise and they just work good... Now I can not wait to get them off to MX-Tech for the hook up.....

From what I have been told by people who have had them all say the 50's were good the 43's were better and the 48's are the best.....

Hey hvyw8t check the Places to ride forum and the "Idaho Ride" thread.

The 2001 forks perform better on the 4-strokes than the 2-strokes. I think a lot of the terrible reputation comes from them (2-strokes). You can make them work well, though.

I can vouch for 2000 forks - they were terrible :)

I've been pretty happy with my 43mm WP's. They seem to respond well to clicker adjustment and have never done me wrong, except for maybe weeping oil at times. I'd really like to have the 48's though, bigger is better right?;)
