I had the cam bearing on my '01 KTM MXC 400 grenade on me and seize the bike approximately 2 1/2 years ago before I gave the bike to my husband. At that time KTM said it was a faulty cam bearing and paid for the parts which included the cam bearing, rocker pin, chain & some other small stuff.

Now the cam bearing has grenaded again. Does anybody know how long the cam bearing is supposed to last or how frequently we should have it replaced? This bike is only ridden maybe once a month or every other month in the desert for play rides, 40 to 80 miles, b/c he uses his CRF450 to race moto-x.

Some folks change the bearings every year if they ride often. It sounds like your bearings have been in there for more than 2.5 years. They are easy to change and exspensive if you don't.

Wow, thanks for the enlightenment! We will now change the bearing every year even though the bike is not ridden that much. The last time it was replaced was in June of '02.
