I got a shipment of portable generator sets. Turns out they are wound for 220v 50hz. Someone told me that this is what is used in Canada and mexico is this true. The company that produced them assures me that they will make it right. Meanwhile I just want to cover my bases.

50 Hz is a European thing. Definitely not Canadian and I'm pretty sure that Mexico is also 60 Hz.

you gotta be careful with Canadian power. The exchange rate has fluctuated of late, so you need to calibrate it daily. Also, be sure you get an American owner's manual, because you don't want to be stuck trying to interpret a whole manual written in Canadian.

That's what I was wondering because after I was told they were 50hz I checked on ebay canada and they were all 60hz.
Looks like these gen's have to go back across the water.
