I am tuning my kdx200 pilot jetting I've reduced my pilot from a 45 to 42. When I turn the air screw in to one turn out I get idle slow down, then when I open the air screw I can turn it out almost all the way out and the engine will idle normal. Does mean I have still too rich pilot jetting?

thanks, jimbo

You will hit a point where turning the screw out will not make the engine rev any higher. Find this point then turn the screw back in until the rpm just starts to drop a little. This is how I set my coarse a/f screw position, I then fine tune with the ride&feel method.

When the pilot is set it should be between 1 and 2.5 turns out, though some kdx'ers including myself have used settings around 1/2 to 3/4 in the winter.

If you find the ideal setting is more than 2.5 turns out then you may want to try a smaller pilot.
