ok god Ive had enough!

Remeber in Waynes World the movie, there was this bit where Mike Myers and Dana Carvey were bitching about commericalization and they had all these cheesy product placement shots? YOu know, MIke was saying "its sad people just use things because you pay them" and he was drinking a pepsi, then Garth had all this Reebok gear on, and then they had some advil, etc...etc... IT was meant as a parody Im sure, but also as a dig at all that crappy kind of stuff.

Now, EVERYWHERE I look, the cat in the hat is! Hes on my pepsi bottle, potato chip bags, TV commercials for everything. I even saw 1 commercial that was for 2 products! a soda and a chip! I pretty much dont want to see the movie now! Annoying!Ironic I thought.

You know what, I saw the movie and it is a complete turd. It's just low brow humor all the way through with know wit or creativity. That is great for a kid's movie except the humor is not using kid language or material? i.e. "That really burns my aggggh" or "Son of a Booooo" They had such a good oppurtunity to write a really cool movie and instead took the easy out.

Basically, if your going to do a Dr. Suess book don't you think you would want to involve a little RHYMING in the dialogue?

I agree, Pirates of the Carribean was a good movie. I just saw it on Thanksgiving. Johnny Dep played a great character, he was pretty funny. The kids liked it too although it contained too much gore for the younger ones.

Mike Myers is very talented and his Austin Powers movies are incredible, but there are some people that don't care for those movies. Humour is in the eyes of the beholder.

It's no secret that Hollywood knows it is a numbers game. They put out so many movies, some can bomb (you pay to see it, you lose, who cares) but as long as they get a few box office big hitters they are happy with the overall profit. Also it seems as though the critics and myself don't have the same sense of a quality movie more often than not.

I would rather wait to rent it on DVD and watch it in the comfort and convenience of my own home without the ridiculous costs of a theater. At least if it stinks I can turn it off and go to the next rented movie without having wasted a ton. The only time I hit a movie is for the sake of my wife or kids. The drive-in can be fun, at least we are out in the fresh air (I like to sit in the bed of the truck with them). The sound and picture are never as good as home or the theater, but being outside offsets it somewhat.

Also, to me a movie in a public place tends to be less of an interactive experience. Everyone has to be quiet and stare at the screen. It's like watching tv. At least at home I can pause the movie and control the volume, yell at the kids :) etc.

Overall it's a scam. definitely not worth the ridiculous costs involved.

It was brought to my attention 'bout 40 yrs ago.
And now it's a movie? Well what do you know!

IMO, with very few exceptions, Hollywood is a giant CRAP FACTORY churning out endless, mindless swill.

Hollywood can't make a movie w/out violence & sex.
The acting is poor. It's all special effects.

From the scenes IVe seen on commercials and interviews, it looks like he plays it as that Woman character he does, you know the " Talk amongst yourselves" lady....

I dunno maybe Ill wait for the DVD, at the rate their going these days, it will only be 8 weeks or so.

Cat In The Hat is possibly one of the worst movies I have seen.  Don't waste your hard earned $'s on it.  Don't even waste your $'s on it when it comes out to video.

Bad Santa ROCKED!  It's well written and didn't require mega dollar hollywood talent to pull it off (read.... stink it up).  It's a dark comedy and just about everyother word is "F".  It is definitely NOT a movie for young teens.  Some "R" rated movies are OK for them but this one is not.

I may actually GO to a movie theater to see Bad Santa! Been a long time since I didn't wait to get something on DVD. Looks well worth it.

This Cat in th Hat movie is blasphemy IMHO. Dr. Suess is surely rolling in his grave. :| His works are by far more deserving than Mike Myers and Hollywierd.

I sure it was a dig and a joke, but they proably still got paid for all the product placement.

I can't comment on the movie, but Imagine it was as bad or worse than the Grinch the stole X-mas. The cartoon was cool, but I did not car much for that movie either. I will wait until I can rent it. I was kind of looking forward to it as I like DR. Suess a lot when I was younger and the Cat in the Hat was one of the greats.

That movie looks absolutely awful. And the description you gave it makes it sound even worse. I think I'll pass on that one. I'd rather go see Elf.. And I can't wait till Bad Boys 2 comes out on video, that movie was so funny.

AHHHHH!! Remind me never to watch a DVD with you! :p That's exactly why I prefer the movie experience, everyone has to shut up and stare at the screen! That's the only way I can feel like I'm part of the whole experience. I like watching movies at home too but I'm like a movie night nazi at home. Lights must be off, surround sound on, nobody moves, Pause is NOT an option, and keep your yap shut! I can't stand watching a movie at home with bladder challenged yahoos who are constantly yo-yo'ing up and down having to pee every 5 minutes, (*cough Eddie) have to get water, have to get a snack, blah, blah, blah! :flame:

I just bought Pirates of the Carribean and I'm going to watch it allllll alone MY way this week. That way no one will be coming between me, Jonny and Orlando and no one has to die. :p

Aimee, we all know the only reason you like to watch movies alone is so you can rip 'em and pick 'em with gusto. And no one believes for a second that the tape you have hand-labeled "Terms of Endearment" is anything other than a copy of some lesbian porno.
