Changed pipe back to stock, now bogs down when warm and dies

Hey guys/gals.. As stated above, I've got a '90 DR350 and bought it 3 months ago w/ a Cobra exh already on it (too loud)

So I swapped it for an OEM stockie from the same bike, and now it starts, but when it warms up (4 min) it bogs, dies and then I have to wait 20 min for it to start again.

I installed a stock main jet (35 from 45) and it still runs like this.

Any ideas/ comments?

Oh, and the bike ran perfectly with the Cobra exh :bang: it was just too damn loud.

It sounds like as your bike gets hot and the air isn't as dense due to the raise in temp, your mixture air/fuel mixture just isn't right. You're going to need to slowly jet down on your pilot and main jets. Are you running the stock intake?

Thanks for the reply

So if your theory is correct in regards to the less dense air, then I would be running too lean.. that scares me. I beleive my intake is stock (it may have a K&N in the airbox but that would be it)

*** That's the part I shot myself in the foot with.... I traded pipe for pipe w/ a guy on craigslist and now I only have the OEM one (which by the way is like $370 on bikebandit new)

But I am 99.9 % sure that it is the muffler change that is causing me issues.

Check the packing, if that checks out ok, move on to the carb float, it may be stuck and not admitting fuel quickly enough.

How exactly would I go about checking the packing? And this may sound crazy, but if I am low on fuel could this cause what is happening? I'm probably down to a quart or so..

Have you checked the plug to SEE what the engine needs??? Theorizing till the cows come home, have issues, look at the plug! Wet:too much fuel, dry: not enough!
