Well, well. I'm not surprised. Next to Vermont, California, and Northern California, I don't think you'd find a more liberal, we-government-beaurocrats-know-better-than-you-parents jurisdiction than most parts of Connecticut. I worked for the State's Attorney there in New Haven. Graduated from their fairly prestigious law school. Got to know many of their politicians, and political considerations. What we have here is a rogue State's Attorney. She has no more authority, though, than to press charges. A jury would then have to convict (under a judge's oversight). And an appeals court affirm. Regrettably, there are many liberal judges in those parts, and on the Ct. Supreme Court, who may well go along with this absurd program. I, for one, if I lived there, would NOT quit riding because of one ill-suited, overrated, probably undereducated, power went to her head, couldn't hold a job in the real world, brainless, has never had a real thought in her whole life, knee jerk, I know what's better for everybody, bureaucrat who threatened me with powers she does not enjoy. PLUS -- I hereby volunteer to help in the defense of anybody who may find him or herself subject to this woman's whimsical tyrannical urges. I am not licensed in Ct., but I could assist someone who is, Pro Hac Vice, and I can certainly write/edit any appeals. This is a gross distortion of our process, and our sport. Laws are written by the legislative branch, signed by the executive branch, and passed upon by the judicial branch. They are NOT created by finding something objectionable to one individual and then trying to shoehorn that into a statute clearly not designed to address your petty grievance. I, for one, will assist anyone who wishes to stand up to this woman, whose transgression is objectionable on so many levels. [This message has been edited by LongTime (edited 04-09-2001).]
