That is the place where I ride and am a member and the AMA magazine blew up the story and made it bigger than it really needs to be. This state attorney has it out for MX bikes do to the fact that there were some complaints from the milford police chief who is friends with her. She sent the letter basically to cover the states ass and make sure that if something happened, higher powers could not sue milford as a town for not doing anyhing about the situation. The only way a parent can be in trouble is if they let their son/daughter ride DANGEROUSLY there. You would have to get seriously hurt and not be wearing any gear to be in trouble. You cannot be banned, they govt would get very much overthrown by bikers if that happened. The club is also "ignoring" the letter in a way. They had new liability sheets that put responsibility on noone and they have proceeded to stop trying to fight this woman theirselves. They have lots of help as evidenced by the ama mag and there are many other WEALTHY track owners getting involved that can afford an attorney. Also, the governor, alot of cops/fireman, and alot of senators/reps ride and they are really angry about this. the club is going to tell the head states attorney that it is national, and hopefully, they will stop it. There is nothing to worry about. We here in the epicenter of the problem are very cool about it and are not to much at all(at least I am not, I went riding!). It is pretty much over, and if noone else gets seriously hurt, I will hopefully all be forgotten. BTW, even if someone got seriously hurt, the parents would have to be found BLATENLY laible to prosecute them. Sorry for rambling, but the issue has gone wayyyy overboard in my opinion and the AMA magazine kindof screwed up the story. They told the facts, but didn't go into the details. i guess they were using "journalistic liscense" to make the story seem way worse than it actually turned out to be. On a diffrent note, I would like to commend the AMA for helping the club out even though the club has NO AFFIATION with the AMA whatsoever. They are truly nice people and if any AMA executives are reading this, thank you very much, the whole MRMC appreceats it. Rmguy, this is the problem I am having obviously. Here is the contents of the letter: Dear mr. simpson, This office has recieved several complaints about minors operating motorcycles and all terain vehicles at your facility. We are aware of five reported accidents since 1998 some involving minors injured while operating vehicles on your track. It is our understanding that children as young as four or five years of age operate vehicles on your track. The milford police chief and fire chief have pointed out that some of these vehicles actually carry warnings that noone under the age of 16 should be an operator[only atv's which are BANNED from the track, and it is only a friendly recommendation]. As a result we will be reviewing with great care any future incedents involving operatin of vehicles by anyone under 16. Enclosed is a copy. . . . [from there it just states that they will meet with the club's officers and so on and so forth]. . . The law states. . .The felony crime of risk of injury occurs if there is a wilful(she spelled it wrong, haha) creation of a situation that places minors in risk of physical injury. {end} That is the just of the important parts of the letters, and if i get a chance, I will put the letter on photopoint for all to see. Last, although I will be here daily to check out what you all have to see, is that if you write letters, you MUST BE NICE AND NONTHREATINING!!!!!! There are alot of you out there that are probably peeved, but nasty letters DO NOT HELP!!! Please, if you write a letter, make it simple and nonnasty. All the nasty letters that they get can screw it all up for the club and as I said before, this lady is way out of her league and really has no power to do what she did. There are many higher govt powers that are taking care of it and her position pronto. Thanks for your time and sorry for the longest post I have EVER written, I even got really bad arm pump writing this. Last, I just called the president of the club and he said that he will visit here and post some facts. ------------------ Aaron's web site [This message has been edited by KawieKX125 (edited 04-09-2001).]
