Chest Protecters: Important or Un-important?

you can buy a new one that might not be a big name but still works just the same for 40 or 50 bucks. just because nobody else uses them doesnt mean you shouldnt. dont be one of the people that come into this thread saying i wish i would have been wearing a chest protecter when i crashed.
