first bike, so not sure if this is normal,

when i have the bike on or off of the stand, I hear the front sprocket and the chain make a clicking noise, is this normal, or is it a sign of a worn sprocket or chain, or both....thanks.

Check for worn sprocket by looking at the teeth, if they are hooked, then you have a problem, if not, it is nothing to worry about. A chain going around will make some amount of noise. Also just try cleaning it and lubing it up properly, and that should help quiet things down.

also might want to check the chain alignment. being that it is a new bike to you. this is one thing you should check on every bike you buy... often people over look these things..

options: lube it. check to see how tight/loose it is. check for hooked and/or broken teeth on the sprockets. if its tight enough, lubed often, and no broken sproket teeth, then its probably normal.

also see if the plastic block that is inside yur rear chain guide is worn and see if the chain is riding on the metal part of the chain guide.
