Confused about Lites class

im confused... What bikes do they ride in the lites class for motocross? some people have told me 125's some have told me 250f's can someone clarify for me?

Uhh.. 250F and 125's are both legal in the lites class.. However, you will almost never see a 125.

i thought 125's were basically equal to 250f's? and what does Ryan Villopoto ride?

"Lites" use to be called the 125 class. When the AMA decided that they would encourage 4-stroke development (good thing) they allowed an advantage of TWICE the displacement for them... I think we all underestimated the technological capabilities of the factories. The 250F's (4-strokes) are way fast, and a huge advantage... but the advantage comes with a big maintainance downside ($.) I myself wish it was still simple and affordable w/ rider skill being the deciding trophy-factor.

The most shocking thing to me was how FAST the 4-strokes took over....... I knew it would happen eventually, especially in the 450 class..... But I figured the 125s would last a couple more years then they did......now it is probably impossible to find one in a main event or pro moto anymore....
