Is there a simple way of changing the compression release lever on my 2002 yz250f to a hot start lever. I am going to put the auto-decompression cam in and therefore have no use for the handlebar mounted compression release. I would like to convert it into a hot start lever.

The decomp cable and mechanisim aren't built to do what a hot start does.
Guy over at TT is selling nice litle plugs for the hole. Get one, do away with the decomp cable.
You probably won't use a hotstart now.

You would need the spring loaded, auto-return hot start plunger to connect to. I think the cable end is different at the carb compared to the comp release cable end. Probably cost more to collect the needed parts than to buy an aftermarket remote hot start. The Dr. D hotstart is a very nice bar-mounted option. Moves it over to the right side, thumb actuated. http://www.dubachracing.com/

And ditto what Jay said about pluging the decomp hole in the head.

About plugging the decomp hole...why can't you just remove the cable and leave the little springy/lever dohickie in the hole? That's what I did but now you guys have got me worried.
