Coolant in bottom end...main case gasket?

I'm doing the top end on my 87' rm125. I drained the bottom end fluid and I found coolant in there. Does that mean I need a main case gasket or maybe a cylinder base gasket? I know It was burning coolant so there was a leak somewhere. I really don't want to split cases but I will if I have to. Thanks

Most likely a head gasket, IMO.

Could be a head or base gasket, but are you referring to draining the transmission oil and finding water? It this is the case, then you definitely have a bigger problem. On the other hand, if you have to drain fluid from the crank area of a 2 stroke, then the problem is likely very large indeed.

Upon re-reading it, by bottom end I guess you mean the transmission.

Could be a water pump seal.
