I'm comfortable rebuilding everything on my bike, from the ground up. That being said, I had a shop rebuild my mono-shock just because I have never been into one. If you have someone near to you that has any experience rebuilding them, I'd say go for it. If not, I heard it can be a bit tricky if you don't have the right tools or experience, so it might be better to have a reputable shop take care of it for you.

If you have the seal head, o rings, special fluid in some cases, a special tool to remove the seal head, some nitrogen, and for SURE the shop manual,,,, piece of cake. I send mine to MX Tech. Vintage Bob

It's usually a better idea to send it out to someone reputable than try it yourself if you're not sure what you're doing. The labor isn't that pricey.

Cool video. I guess my method of using 10 vice grips on the spring to compress it wasn't the best idea, but it worked, and I was lucky to not get hurt. I just wanted to ride and I needed a stiffer spring.
