I am a complete newbie so sorry if this is a stupid question. If I want to replace the stock air filter on my CR250 with a Twin Air filter, do I have to replace the mounting plate and the filter cage as well?

I am confused because the person I bought the bike from gave me a couple Twin Air Filters that I recently cleaned and oiled. When I went to replace the air filter I found a stock air filter inside. Nothing seemed to fit correctly. Even the screw that attaches the filter to the mounting plate won't even fit through the hole in the Twin air filter. Thanks in advance.

First things first. You need to learn where you live in case you get lost out there in the world.

With that out of the way, all I can say about the filter is that a twin air made for your application should fit just like the factory one. Was the OEM filter fitting correctly? (Not sure the way the post read)

Maybe the guy has several bikes, and gave you a couple filters for a different bike.
