When we pull the clutch in all the way on my daughter's bike and put in gear, all is fine...smooth..no issues. When we begin to release the clutch, the bike lurches back and forth ever so slightly. You can feel it if you pronounced if you let the clutch out slow. No issues after that...just when you let it out slowly. It has all new plates and springs...the hub is original so it is probably at spec limits...not sure if that is the issue or not...maybe so if they are worn giving toom uch play....any thought? is this somewhat nomral on the 80's?

Are the fingers on the basket smooth or grooved?

the fingers aren't grooved so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the plates hangin up. It only happens as we let the clutch out and it begins to engage. Someone said that if the inner hub is worn, the clucth plates have more space to get off center...eventually the harmonics of the spinning mass align the plates..... I may have to get a new inner hub at some point
