I lost compression in my '02 450,found out I needed to reshim the intake valves and did just that. The bike ran fine for 6 good rides when I tried to start it for my next ride no compression again. Does anyone know what is going wrong and how to fix it?

Rich,

Thanks for the links, MP thanks for the informative piece. I am looking to "help" a friend out of a hardly used 02 CRF450. Is this the only thing I should be looking for, or is there any other gotchas?

Thanks again. :worship:

Water pump seals and bearing are a trouble spot as well, but otherwise it's a pretty solid engine.

Rich,
Thanks again. I have been thinking, I could really use a second bike, why not have something differant? The timing on this CRF couldnt have worked out much better.

My 02 CRF has been hands down the most enjoyable bike I've ever owned, and I've had a few. :)
