hi all, i have a crf 450 05 which had a hole in the crankcasing around the kickstart area (long story), i have obtained another bottom end which had dropped a valve and smashed the piston, the crank appears ok but there is swarf around, is splitting the cases and cleaning manually the only way to go or is there an easier way to clean the oil sump and crank area. also if stripping is the only way where is the best place to buy an alternator rotor puller, clutch basket holder and special tool for the primary drive gear. thanks

The cases come apart easy, nothing like the old 2 strokes. Do not try a 3 jaw puller on the rotor. Get the proper tool, its cheap and fits a lot of dirt bike engines. An impact comes in handy. Vintage Bob

And buy a complete gasket kit for the bike. Honda sells a A and B kit. Get both and you will have all the gaskets to completely do a top and bottom end on the bike.

Also for piece of mind so you dont have an oil migration issue with the tranny and engine oil, remove the balancer shaft, inspect it and then clean it with like a scotch brite pad, then replace the balancer bearings and the seal.
